Pictures show the new western concourse at King's Cross station shortly before and shortly after the opening to passengers on Sunday 18 March 2012.

The concourse forms part of a £550m scheme delivering the biggest transformation in the 160-year history of the Grade-I listed station and providing major improvements for passengers ahead of the London Olympic and Paralympic Games. Network Rail says total investment in transport infrastructure in the King's Cross/St Pancras area during the past 10 years is approximately £2.5bn.
