Vale of Glamorgan line reopening

This south Wales railway, closed to regular passenger trains in 1964, was officially reopened on Friday 10 June 2005. Timetabled trains began running on Sunday 12 June.

Two new stations have been built at Llantwit Major and Rhoose (pictured above) for Cardiff International Airport and a bay platform reinstated at Bridgend. The new train service links Bridgend to Cardiff via Barry. A regular shuttle bus service operates from Rhoose to the airport, taking seven minutes.
