Gallery 118: Blackfriars progress

Pictures from May 2010      © Transport Briefing stock

The photos, taken during a site visit on 20 May 2010, show work underway on the upgrade of Blackfriars to create 12-car long platforms spanning the River Thames. Main contractor Balfour Beatty has installed new metal ribs on the east side of the bridge as part of work to widen the deck. Blackfriars Underground station has been encased in a metal box (yellow and black) to allow trains to run while work is going on above.

For further details of the pictures see Project Monitor.
