Gallery 112: X'Trapolis for the UK launch

Alstom unveiled the X'Trapolis UK rolling stock designs with which it is bidding to clinch multi-billion pound orders to supply the new Thameslink and Crossrail train fleets.

X'Trapolis carriages are shorter than existing trains in Britain and have fewer bogies, reducing the weight of the sets to cut energy consumption. The interiors are also a departure from what we are used to with articulated couplings releasing space for passengers and bench seating between the doorways.
